That is why fluorite earns the reputation as”the most colorful mineral in the world”.The origin of the word fluorite comes from the use as a flux in steel and aluminum processing.It was originally referred as fluorspar by miners and is still called today.Fluorite is also used as source of fluorine for hydrofluoric acid and fluorinated water.It is also used in optical glass,optical fiber,enamel,medicine and also used as catalyst for dehydration and dehydrogenation etc.
